New addition to the personal library. #Letters for Advertising by Mortimer Leach, a former director of the Lettering Department of Art Center School, Los Angeles during the 1950s. I was fortunate to find this book in great condition, considering it was published in 1956. The content covers equipment and tools, basic rules for lettering, letter proportion, rules for spacing and lettering techniques, including a chapter dedicated to #brush #scripts and brush #letters.
During a recent visit to Kansas City, MO, @rileycran suggested I stop at the River Market Antique Mall where I found this beauty and other neat finds. Check out my contribution to losttype.com/blog

I had to get these “Perfetto Pencils” because of the beautifully designed box inspired by Italian pencil boxes from the 1930’s. The double-ended two-colored pencils are just as fine. @louisefili @spencercharles
Spent some time at the #beach today and watched half of the lessons of “Style Your Letters Boldly: Hand-Addressed Envelopes” @skillshare class taught by @erikmarinovich. I learned so much already and look forward to starting a class project. Use this link to enroll in the class and get a free month of Skillshare membership if you’re interested. http://skl.sh/1hHLplg
'Vive la plume' by @typelettering. So stoked to get one of these beautiful limited prints from Print for Good, a UK-based initiative that creates goods to raise funds for charitable causes. 18 x 24”, metallic bronze, hand pulled screen print on Mohawk Superfine White Eggshell. Framing this up today. #lettering #art #script
